Dear
Praying Friends,
We are currently
sitting in a hotel in
Florida on our way to
Bradenton for prayer
meeting tonight. We
have traveled over 8,000
miles in the past two
months and have visited
17 churches. We are
surprised at the price
of gas. We thought gas
was high in Ukraine (and
it is higher) but we do
not normally travel this
many miles in such a
short time. God has
been good to us and has
supplied all our needs.
Praise the Lord. It has
been very good to get
back into our eastern
supporting churches and
reacquaint ourselves
with folks and meet new
friends.
Pastor Slava Kratko
and BIMI Missionary
Robert Fuller have
returned to Ukraine.
Both Slava and Robert
were given opportunities
to preach and share
their testimonies at
Deaf Baptist Fellowship
of America in Oklahoma
City and various other
deaf churches along the
way. I would like to
share one blessing that
we heard last week. On
the way back to the
airport in Philadelphia,
both men stopped in at a
deaf church in Ohio.
There they met Zhanna.
She was born in Ukraine
and at the age of 12,
her parents moved to
America. Zhanna is deaf
and she saw Slava
preached. After church,
Slava asked her how she
became saved. She did
not give a clear
testimony of salvation.
That morning Zhanna
accepted Christ as her
Savior. Praise the
Lord. To think, a
Ukrainian man came all
the way from Ukraine to
led a young deaf
Ukrainian woman to
Christ. AMEN
We also just
finished up two weeks of
CAMP BIMI in
Chattanooga, TN.
Allow me to tell you a
few things about CAMP
BIMI. It is seven days
long with over 40
hours of intensive
training - teaching
young people about life
as a missionary or full
time service. Some of
the classes ranged from
"How Do I Know If I Am
Called", "Cultural
Adaptation", "Language
Barriers", "Raising a
Family On The Mission
Field" to "What Do
Missionaries Do
Anyway." These classes
are taught by veteran
BIMI missionaries and
some colleges even give
credit for completing
the course. There were
a total of 78 who
attended this year, ages
16 to 39, both married
and single. Many made
life changing
decisions.
One of the couples
approached us about
God's calling in their
life - working in
Ukraine with orphans.
We received an e-mail
from them a couple of
days ago. They are
planning on coming to
Simferopol, Ukraine for
a survey trip in
November. Please pray
for the Baileys. There
was also a single woman
that wants to come to
Ukraine to work with
orphanage children and
teach missionary
children.
Simferopol
Baptist Church
- Teen Camp REPORT:
I received a phone call
from Bro. David Sloan
last Friday to say that
the place that we had
camp last year and had
reserved for camp again
this year, cancelled our
reservations.
With about 100 young
people scheduled to come
in just one week, this
sent everyone scattering
to find a new location.
I just got off the phone
with Bro. David and it
seems that all is well,
or at least better.
They have found
substitute housing for
the young people. All
the meals will be cooked
and served at our
church. This again
shows us the importance
of having our own camp
ground.
Other news in
Simferopol. Bible
Clubs are being held
this week at our home.
Twenty-four children
were in attendance
today. This Sunday is
Church in the Woods and
there are between eight
and ten scheduled to be
baptized. A
new deaf church is
in the making in the
city of Evapatoria.
They have already rented
the building. Please
pray for this new
ministry.
Lighthouse
Baptist Church in
Sevastopol celebrated
her 9th anniversary last
Sunday. It has been a
blessing to watch that
church mature through
the years. Lord willing,
we will ordain Andrei
(now their deacon) as
pastor when Judy and I
return in September.
Thank you for your
prayers for us. We will
be traveling a lot this
month as we will be in
12 churches.
In His Service,
